ive been slowly but surely collecting parts for a bike that ive kinda wanted to build for a while. true oldschool style diamond frame board tracker, but i need to find a true vintage diamond frame, with a single piece crank. anyone have any ideas or know for sure of one? thanks in advanced

I just finished restoring a '34 Rollfast diamond frame. Like all my bikes, it is for sale. Probably more than you are looking to spend, but if you are interested pm me.

Most of Schwinn's "lightweight" Chicago models used a 1-piece crank, it was only when you got into the high-end stuff (Paramount, Superior, etc) that you got away from it. So, a Varsity, Racer, Speedster, Suburban, Continental, or Collegiate all could be candidates for you, depending on what tire size you're going for. There are thousands of them still out there...

I can't speak for the other models, but I know that a Varsity frame has about 50 mm between the forks or stays at the brake bridge. Fitting a 2"+ wide tire would be difficult unless it was smaller in diameter, but I seem to recall seeing a picture of one with balloon tires somewhere. I've got 26x1.75" snow tires on one of mine.

Running hand brakes will entail a bit of fabbing to reach the rims.
She wanted a coaster brake, so that simplified things.

I put 26" MTB wheels on a Varsity for my winter bike. I found that Tektro sells calipers with 100 reach that will go all the way out to the rims, no fabrication required.

the whole plank for the moment is being built around a single piece, a 9 tooth freewheel hub i got off a snapped BMX bike. the plan is to (and yes im serious) get an Exercise bike crank and sprocket and put it to the 9 tooth (64 to 9) but make the whole bike look like an old delopotated racer from back in the day. i had though about deep v rims but thats just. .yeah. also realize were going to have to build a push/pull bike just to get this thing going fas enough to pedal. :D
