Bought this in the spring. Spent all summer fixing stuff to make it driveable, as it sat for years before I got it. Finally got the brakes straightened out today (LONG story) and took it for a ride. Anyway, I love this thing!

The smile on your face says it all.

BTW...that color of car never rusts.

Thanks guys! Yes, it is a 1969 Mach 1. It has the "small" base engine...a 351 Windsor (2 bbl!!!) with an automatic trans. Shouldn't get too bad of gas mileage, but it's not a daily driver by any means. I would have preferred a Cleveland or a CJ, but those would have cost even more and this set me back a pretty penny.

I love the color combo...lime gold mettalic and white interior.

I just joke with you because back when we lived in Michigan we would go to a ton of car shows and at just about every one there was always an old Nova or a Camaro that was this color and it was always 100% original and totally rust free. It became a running joke between my Dad and I about how that color was rust resistant.

That's funny. No rust to speak of, but it has been repainted sometime around 1990 so I can't say it is all original.

Nice car Dan! Very, very sweet. 1969 is my personal favorite year for Mustangs.

I'm a Mustang guy...I've owned at least one Mustang for the last 30 years. I had a red '69 351w 4spd Mach before I met my wife and a Yellow '69 Boss when we met....sold it to pay for the 1st kid.

Hope you don't mind me pimping my current one. Quickest Mustang I've owned and only one I've bought new. '03 Cobra. The green '01 Bullitt is my son's....the son I sold the Boss for. Makes me smile to see him in one. We are a Mustang family

This is how it's spent most of the last 2 years....covered up in my wood shop.

I wish I could have said the same about my old one, It was a birthday present from my uncle's neighbor for my 15th birthday. He knew I loved the car and he didn't want to just junk it. Well the car had sat in the back for years and years, sank into the mud up to the axles and was a rust bucket. Rust up to the door handles, motor was locked up, inside was trashed, and what wasn't rusted was Bondo. My uncle helped me re-build it from ground up, took 3 years to get it to run and drive, and another 2 years to get it to look decent. Watch those rear shackles on it they like to pop up into the trunk when they rust..... .

Jeff,

Nice stable! Who owns the red GT?

I think Mach's are great (obviously) but I would LOVE to have a Boss. Several years ago I had a chance to buy a yellow/balck Boss 302 but I just couldn't swing it then. It was cheap (not a steal) but we were only a few years into raising our kids and we were broke. And oh yes, just before my wife got pregnant with our first, I sold my '66 coupe. So I can appreciate the sacrifices you made too.

Rewarding to see your son drive a Stang too...that's cool! Surprised none of you own vintage cars though. I considered a newer one because I could have bought a Cobra or something of that nature, but the '69 Mach has always been my "attainable dream car". I mean, I would prefer a Boss or a Shelby, but who am I kidding.

Dan,

I can talk cars for hours.....just tell me to shut up when I get too long winded. We had a local Mustang club and web site for several years. The red '05 belongs to one of the members and the resident electronics and photography guru. Ric is a retired engineer from our local FM classic rock radio station (WTUE) here in Dayton. It's Procharged and very, very nice. Too much drama over the years killed the club and the web site...haven't seen most of the members in several years.

Both of my son's are into the local car/motorcycle scene. It is a great common bond and keeps us close as friends and family. My youngest son didn't really follow into the Mustang stuff. He's more into cutom motorcycles and low rider trucks and builds both.

Probably because of my job I have a real attraction to the technical side of the late model stuff. The Mustang is modified, but in a way to keep it stock looking to the casual observer.I do have several vintage car projects that I moth balled for now due to finances not being what they used to be. The Dayton economy is seriously hurting. I own a 1960 Ford F100 that is all late model drivetrain and a traditional, fenderless, Buick 401 nailhead powered model A hot rod project.....and it's just parts stored here and there at my house and my son's place.

Your '69 is a beautiful car.....now I know why you haven't been around as much lately.

One of the youngest son's older projects.....always liked this photo

Jeff,

Well, we are two of a kind I guess. I too am a mechanic at a dealership (Mercedes-Benz) and I can talk cars for hours as well. I guess your co-workers must love your plate. That is great. I like my plate number...it was my first choice and I was amazed it was available!

I would love to see pics of your truck and even more so of your Model A!!! Love old school hot rods!

It's cool your kids are into cars/bikes. It's a good passion, but doing it for a living ruined my will to do any real restoration work. I always thought I would buy a basket case and slowly bring it back to life myself. I realized I will never have the time or patients to do that now. I am ok doing general service work or rebuilding systems, but I am not gonna do a full on resto.

Great score Dan  Throw some Crager S/S's on that and a little spoiler

I want to put a stock type spoiler on it, but it will have to wait. Other things are more important right now. Plus, I am a little short on the funds. Crager S/S's are cool, but I like the stock wheels on this.
