Few to none of the cyclejerks are in this crowd. We mostly cruise back streets, bike paths, and (around here, anyway) the wide, smooth and empty sidewalks that line most of the heavily driven streets.

The cyclejerks are mostly roadies who insist that their bicycles are vehicles deserving of equal space with cars and trucks in traffic. I see them around here every day, using left turn lanes, riding in traffic lanes, splitting lanes like motorcycles, etc.

Don't take this the wrong way but some of what you said is within the law.

I am a cyclo-ambassador and I ride to protect my safety and others. I ride in bike lanes when present, but I do "take the lane" when the bike lane is unsafe(Door zone, left/right hook danger). I don't spilt lanes, ride the wrong way or without lights. I do think that any jerk causes us to profile similar people latter on, whether it is a cyclist, driver or pedestrian

I do not advocate vehicular cycling though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicular_cycling

Here is an interesting vid from a roadie that happened last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFM5QiAd ... r_embedded
