Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Patience......patience......
KOTA sent a 24 x 2.125 tire with the fork, it looks great but I couldn't resist trying a couple other options
A Fat Frank lived up to it's name! Actually it was too tall, not too wide.
A 26 x 1 3/8 fits! Now I have either find or 'make' a whitewall!

I'm gonna talk to Double Nickle and see if we can get this puppy into a roller w/some tire options for you guys to chime in on.

You KNOW we'll have some pics of that!
Til then, as always,
Cheers!

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Got a proposition for the 'Rat Rod Nation'.....

We received a generous donation of a rear rim and blackwall Fatti-O tire from Wacko (thanks again dude).
The things is, herr_rudolfs inspiration 'bike' is running whitewalls. So, here's the propostion....

Does anyone want to swap our tire with a 24 x 3 whitewall? It doesn't have to be a Fatti-O, a Thick Brick or a Nirve Fat A will work too, just gotta be a whiltewall. The tire we have is in really good shape, it's practically new (still has some of the mold 'nubbies' on it), so that's the condition we're looking for.

Let me know if you've got one to swap.

Wacko,
Thanks again for being cool about us 'bartering ' your donation..

Cheers!

One more thing I hope you guys can help with with, I'm trying to brainstorm a way to mount the headlight that Skipton is sending us.
The light on the inspiration is mounted at/near the bottom of the fork.

The fork we have has a large hole in the bottom, so bolting a 'traditional' headlight bracket won't work. Here's a HORRIBLE cell phone pic:

Here's the ideas swimming around in my head.
1. Use a 'old school' reflector bracket (I'll need one donated), the kind that slips over the top of the fork, with the 'tooth' that keeps it aligned.
But instead of mounting it high, I was thinking of sliding it on under the bearing race (maybe even drill a small hole in the rear of the fork for the 'tooth' to slip into)
2. The other idea I had was to use some sort of toggle bolt or wdege bolt in the bottom of the fork. For the wedge bolt, I was thinking of hacking off just the top 1" portion of an old stem I have, use an extra stem wedge and fasten the bracket that way.

Ideas, thought, suggestions, donations.....

Hit me up!
Cheers!

Bolt, headlight bracket, WASHER on the outside.....Washer, lock washer nut on the inside.

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Whenever you get those parts painted, swing by my house one night and we will get them on. Got some cool ideas for the photo contest that I wanna let you know about. Let me know when a good time is for you. I'm looking at Sunday night or maybe even Saturday night.

p.s. Sorry y'all for my lack of everyday updates. Been really busy with school and baseball lately. Lucky Ive got a good partner in crime to pick up my slack. Thanks Dr.T and looking forward to seeing those forks on the bike. :D

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

not sure what the hole looks like on the bottom of the forks, but I've used teh threadless stem claw nuts up from the bottom if theres no lip to seat a washer on..

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

If it's steel I'd just weld a nut inside the hole in the fork tube and bolt the bracket to it.

I 'think' I have it figured out, this idea was where my mind was going...

I was welding was an option for me, someday though, then who knows the trouble I'll get in..

looking forward to seeing those forks on the bike. :D

Saturday night might work out, I'll give you a call later...yeah, you're gonna dig these forks, we never would have been able to pull off these smooth bends.
I'll bring the tire 'options' along too!

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Great to see this thing really getting somewhere now. 8)
That light looks awesome!

When you're doing the tire-options... Don't forget to check out the different combinations with a 26" in the back! (just for me please pretty please... ) I'd really like to see how that'll turn out, so please take pics!

I guess the enveloppe from Holland has'n arrived yet, huh? I'm wondering how long it takes to get there...

Cheers guys.

herr_rudolf,
Awesome sketch!
No envelope yet, I'm itching to get it though!
As far as a 26" tire, the only one we have to mock up with is in the last set of pics that Double Nickle posted.
I'll see what else we can toss back there!

Cheers!

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

I'd bet your local welder would weld that in for nothing it would take about 30 seconds.
Owning a welder is awesome :D I may not be real good but I haven't had a weld fail yet.

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Yall are blowing me away....this bike is VERY VERY cool.

Maybe it can help fund the RRB license plate project.

Thanks to everyone who is putting in time and donating parts to this!

Should be fun to see the final bike.

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

Transfered money from my offshore accounts.... Ready to Rock N Roll on the bidding...

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

I'm personally going to start the biding with $100, after that its yalls. Also I was thinking please don't bid if all you want the bike for is parts. This bike isn't just to help out the site its to represent the site. Me and Dr.T would like to see it live on.

Pics are coming up this weekend after. Me and Dr.T are planning to put on the forks and front wheel.

P.S. Thanks Steve. We have put a lot of work into the bike and would love to see it pay for something like custom license plates.

Re: DOUBLE NICKLE and DR.T's AUCTION RAT!(New Pics & Progress)

How is the bidding going to be handled?
