drilling a new departure hub

I have drilled a black new departure model d hub to have it lace with 10 gauge spokes with no problem, but drilling a chrome model d is not an easy task. So does anybody here have done this before. What type of drill bit did you use? I lost 3 drill bits today and it didn't do anything.

The hub shell is hardened steel. Try a carbide or diamond bit, slow speed, and lots of cutting oil as you drill.
