Ok, I'm ok admitting this but I am a frequent Ebay searcher, and well I've noticed in the past few weeks that there has been a good amount of high dollar bikes on the 'bay.

now here's my question do you think the economy is forcing these people to try to sell these items or is it a coincidence? I think it's a coincidence because if it was a money issue they'd be selling them for whatever they could get....

anyone got ideas on this? I know it's kinda morbid to think about it but it's a tough time right now in the world.....

I think, that to some extent, people are afraid that the bottom's gonna drop out on the value of their bikes. Their trying to sell them off so they don't get stuck with an expensive bike being worth only a few bucks. In many cases, but not all, these aren't "real" collectors only people with the money to speculate. Get in, get out. It's definately a buyers market right now!

Similar to the housing and land situation. The guys with the money to play are eating up some good deals here in Michigan, and I'm sure elsewhere. The guys who don't have the money to keep their stuff are taking a real kick in the teeth!

Many hobbies also have high and low points in their collectibility values. Collectors cards, Hotwheels and Barbies are just a few that ride up and down the bumpy value road. People always fear what's not forseeable, but it's usaully just waiting out the low times and reaping the rewards on the next go around.

Just my opinion,
Chainy

Buy up what you want and can afford!

People are probably also selling some stuff to fund the habit. Disposible income has probably gone the way of saving for a rainy day.

Yep I sold a bunch of stuff off so I could finish Restoring my 1937 Shelby Airfow.
