Many of you saw this bike when it was in it's MX form. I really liked the way it looked, but didn't really like the way it rode and the fact that it only had a front brake and didn't stop very well.

I decided that I would give this bike a makeover after coming across some nice newer black coaster brake wheels and some old black ATV bars. Had my LBS give the Shimano rear hub an overhaul and now this one of my most comfortable, quiet, smooth riding coaster brake bikes to date. I picked up the Kenda 26 x 2.125 at a local shop (Fleetwood's) this week and really like the way they look and ride. Also decided to buy a gel seat that didn't look too dorky, but still gave plenty of comfort. Those old school plastic BMX seats are deadly.

The bike passes the bounce test...pick it up about a foot off the ground and drop it and nothing rattles or moves. Looking forward to taking it on some longer rides around town test it all out.

So here she is after a makeover....

It is cool building these bikes that resemble another style but sometimes it comes down to rideability.

Nice transformation. Black tires on Black rims is always in style.

Thanks guys...it's my first black wheel, black tire build. :D

I was wanting to give it that menacing look...that combo always seems to work. Not sure if I struck a real balance between black and silver parts pr not. It would probably look even meaner with a black stem and black crank set.

I had robbed several of the parts from this bike for the KOS Kruiser build so when I decided to sell off that frame and fork I hung on to all of the parts.

I seemed to have accidentally created the perfect gear ration for myself with this build too. Not too hard to take off and still plenty of resistance for top end riding.

Nice. Clean and simple. Looks like a good rider.
And I like the "blingy" feel of the new components against the old frame. Nice mix.

Here's what it used to look like....cool, but uncomfortable and no stopping power.

Just noticed your grips, one of my favorites. I have the no-flange version on a couple of bikes.

After looking at the photos some more...I think I need a black fork.

i kinda like the chrome fork with the way it is now. the blackwalls and wheels look beefy too. haven't seen a kenda with tread like that at my lbs though :?
