Agree with everything you said except this...

Speaking from experience building a sand rail frame using 1.5" erw and dom... I found that when using a JD2 bender (manual power) that the erw was a LOT easier to bend. I cant remember for sure but I believe the wall thickness was the same. I just remember that the dom was a BEAR to bend compared to the erw.

I was also told the dom was used for hydraulic cylinders and shock bodies since the i.d was completely smooth.


bottom line... dom is WAY overkill for a regular bicycle frame, I think its also overkill for a motorized bicycle frame, would be good to use for a Harley frame I would suppose.
