ive been working on my jc higgins bike which has a bendix rear hub. single speed coaster from mexico. well the hub itself works fine (great infact) but what im having prolems with is the sprocket. i went to change the bigger bendix stock sprocket for a pretty small sprocket off an un id old hub off a schwinn. the thing is, the sprocket wont fit on, it seems to be the exact same size, it just wont budge. i dont want to break it, so is there anything i can do? maybe just shave a little off the edge of the sprocket? thanks in advanced!!

thats a shimano cog, thats why it dont fit.. you can grind it out to go on there, but its more than just the teeny bit it looks like..
okay. ill give it a hot, but lookint at it now, it is more than a smidge like you said

ha ha!! success!!after some grinding and a little persuasion, the cog fit. now i realized the axle is shot. . .never ends

one side not of this you cant use a bendex cog really on a shimano. if you look close at the shimano there are small bumps on the side and when you put on the lock ring it helps hold the gear. on a bendix they dont have this so the cog wobbles. i guess you could use it but that would bug the heck out of me
