EZ how to solve fork tube no thread problem

I like the idea of disguising it with a chrome spacer.

I'm sure some folks here could come up with even more creative spacer ideas.

Ok I'm bored and I can't resist using up my photobucket space with stuff. I know there are alot of ways to do this, but this one is simple and quick. Lots of times you wind up with long fork tubes on monark and such. Its an easy fix to use them.
 
I did this for a recumbent I'm building. I just so happened to have a 1" cone shaped grinding wheel that cleaned out the threads perfectly round. I also did this in a drill press. Works great. :wink:

anyway i can get a description of the process, for some reason my computer freezes on photobucket videos. :cry:
 
All your doing is to grind the threads out of a normal nut that would screw down on the top race bearings. Then cut a spacer to slide over the fork tube to whatever length you need and then put the big nut back on top to hold everything together.
