I bought this 68" Midget for my son a few months back and he's still a few months away from being tall enough to ride it.
I've been looking for these fenders but now that I put them on I think that fenderless is starting to grow on me.
I think fenders look classy and fenderless looks a little more sinister..

So, Fenders or Fenderless ?

Nick, I think it looks good either way. I would prefer WW with the fenders it can go either way with BW, I'm taking the fenders off my '68 coppertone Stingray. In looking at the pictures it seems the tires are a bit heavy looking for the 16 inch midget bike without the fenders. They seem to kind of lessen the overall look of the tires against the frame. IMO

I like the fenders, it makes it look like a deluxe model and when a kid i always wanted as much chrome on my bike as i could get

Back 50 years ago, I rode my coppertone Stingray to school, with all the goody’s. If I was out having fun with bikes, I rode my metallic blue Stingray. That no fenders, no sissy bar. It was for fun & jumping.

I would prefer WW tires with the fenders too but this is an early year that runs an S-2 rear rim with 2.125 rear tire (like a 20" inch Stingray), but it's literally impossible to find a 2.125 rear WW tire (original or repop). They make WW & BW replicas of the front S-7 Superior tire because that's the same front tire as a Krate so there's more demand for those and since most of these Midgets run S-7's on front and rear there's just not as much demand for a WW 16 X 2.125 tire. Same goes for Runabouts, some have an S-2 rear rim but most run S-7's front and rear..

I have to vote in favor of fenders. To me, it's a more "complete" look. Of course, if riding in rain or mud, fenders suddenly become very desirable!

If it were strictly racing sans fenders, otherwise they look good on the bike.

More chrome! It will draw the eye of bystanders & he will get more attention. Most kids like positive feedback. Helps boost self esteem!

Either way, hard to beat a Coppertone Schwinn in good shape. Win/Win either way!
