Met up with a professional collector yesterday after work. cleaned him out of bikes. Kind of a spectrum of quality :? ...Couple of mystery machines, One nice Schwinn, two rusty boys bikes (I seem to be having a run on Columbia Thunder Jet's) I think something made a home in the tank....and died....... The other boys bike has 4 top tubes, all small diameter, no badge.

Ladies First: Schwinn Fiesta, horn tank, Concord NH registration stickers, missing a grip (anyone got one, or need one). This one should clean up really well.

Columbia potential scrap metal here rear triangle could repair my ThunderJet frame....

Mystery Lady. Must have 6 Squirt decals all over it. This one might be repairable.

ThunderJet, pretty rough shape, tank has a hole in it and is pretty tender.

Mystery Boys bike, 4 top tubes in pairs, "Custom" on the chain guard, rear hub is an Aero - Glide, tank is very tender. This one is going to need a sandblasting at the least.

Wlker,
Mystery Ladies - Light Blue is a Hawthorne. The chinring gives it away. My initial reaction was that it was a skip tooth. i have never see this style ring in 1/2 pitch.

Mystery mens. (last pciture) is Chain Bike Corp or Ross bike. The chainring again gives us it's lineage. Also the decals on the chainguard are distinct to Ross/CBC.

Since you've "....had a run on Columbia Thunder Jets..." maybe you've got a set of those peaked fenders laying around unused? :)
Although I would agree with yeshoney on that boys bike, you might compare Dingos current multi-bar frame for sale with yours. His is badged as a Higgins I think....

The last bike doesn't look like a Murray made to me, the dropouts are wrong, and the decals, chainring and aluminum fork crown pin it as a Ross or Chain Bike Corp bike.

(And as a random shot in the dark, some Iverson's seem to have had the same fork and very similar frames... I don't know if there's any connection, but I thought I'd throw it out there).

Great finds!

This is my Chain Bike co. Thunder Jet:

Note the chainguard, it's similar to a 50s JC Higgins, but it's flat. I've also seen the arrow thru a circle icon on other chain/Ross bikes. I had a JCH that had that same sprocket w/the round holes, I believe Chain made that for Sears. ~Adam

The frame on that Chain Bike co is too cool. At first glance, I thought someone had put a Monark chainguard on there...
Did that model come with a tank?

It is pretty close to the 53 up Monark/Firestone/"Huffark" chainguard, minus the jewel! Unfortunately, it has a huge dent in it courtesy of UPS, despite careful packing by the seller! ..I'd say it probably did have a tank, it's a deluxe after all! Guess it was Chain's answer to the Spaceliner. Someday, I'll find an original ad, and see what it looked like originally!
