hey guys i need 2 know what kinda hub deal i need 2 make a fixed gear bike ...im hoping i can get it at choppers us ...anybody know 4 sure wich one i need ? thnx guys !!!! mike

There are a few types of hubs you could use. One is a track hub, its has 2 sets of threads on the drive side, one for the cog, and another for the lock ring. Another option is a "fixed-free" flip flop hub, which has freewheel threads on one side and cog and lockring threads on the other. Then you have a "fixed-fixed" hub which is threaded for track cogs and lock rings on both sides. This enables you to have 2 different sized rear cogs if you need to change gear ratios for some reason. Another way is to get a drilled pattern cog which will bolt onto a disc brake hub. If you get a flip flop hub make sure its a track style hub. There is a bmx hub which is refereed to as "flip flop" but is something different. ChoppersUS seems to only have disc hubs, no track or flip flop hubs

ok i screwed up that question ...i have a ten speed rim im gonna take the gear cluster off of ...and i just wanna get a gear (i guess) to just crew rite back on that same rim ....sound doable?

You could use a single speed freewheel. You shouldn't really use a regular freewheel hub for fixed gear because there isn't a set of threads for the lock ring. Without the lock ring (which is threaded in the opposite direction as the freewheel/cog threads) the cog will unscrew. I suppose if its a junk steel hub you could thread the cog on and weld it. This of course would be at your own risk. Regardless of whether you run a single speed freewheel or cog you'll probably have to center the hub on the axle and then re-dish the rim to get a correct chainline.

my lord this sounds mor complex than i had imagined ..i thought u could just buy a sprocket and screw it on there !! LOL thnx for ur help man ...ill just use what i got and see how it works i guess ,....

You can make a suicide fixed by using a bottom bracket lockring and a LOT of red loc-tite. Just don't try and do any sweet skids or backpedal. Also, run a brake, or two.
