Picked up and old Schwinn Breeze for a lady friend that I'm going to fix up for her. Unfortunately I missed the bend in one of the down tubes in the triangle. How do I go about straightening it out without weakening it?

You want to carefully and in a controlled manner apply force in the opposite direction as the blow that caused it. No heat is necessary or desirable.

Span the chain stay across 2 blocks of wood and push or pull the high spot down with a press, a large vise, a really large C-clamp, a hydraulic press, etc. - whatever you can scrounge up. Try stepping down on it to test the force needed. If you want to be really careful, fashion curved cutouts in your wood blocks to avoid doing any more damage.
