I like to build bikes for myself as much as anyone else, but I also try support my builds by selling some off. I figure this would be a good place to list some alternatives to spending the big bucks on trying to fix to sell and still make money, Heres one I just come across yesterday I dont know how great the quality is but Wallyworld had Colorplace rattlecan paint the only colors you could get were white ,flat black(bought 6 cans) green, and clear at 96 cents a can once I try it will post some picks. I was eyeballing the girls Huffy trying to figure what the value in parts would be the bike was 96 dollars, it was a coaster brake 26 inch wheeled whitewall tires cruiser seat and bars and ducktail fenders so the tires sell for about $28 for a pair tubes $10 seat $26 bars they dont sell them individually but bike shop at least $20 grips $50 rims now if the rims were chrome that would be another story but something to think about.

Yeah, that paint is ok, at least black & silver. Seems like most cheapy paint lines have really dull reds, greens and blues too. But for here n'there, why not? I've also had good results using valspar satin clear over other paint, so the flat isn't too flat. ..I believe there was a thread awhile back also pondering buying new Wallymart huffys for parts. ~Adam

One thing I found about that paint is that alot of the time when you spray another color over the base you chose ,it will wrinkle all up. If you use any other kind of paint on top it will really wrinkle. Good luck.

I found that seats and other bike stuff from wal-mart can look good on a bike, Its cheap tooooo!!! Look at the seat on this bike is a wolly world seat.

Hey, nice catch on that seat. See the chrome springs? Notice how one winds one way, the other opposite. I've been looking for these opposite winding chrome springs for a long time for my prewar B6 type seat. Post war seats have both springs winding the same way, and you can buy new replacements. The old opposite winding style are unavailable. I may buy one of those seats just to get the springs and try them. Thanks! Gary

Check prices on the tires and tubes at Niagara Cycle. 26x2.125" tires as on a Walmart bike should be more like $8 each or less, and tubes about $3.

I'm a manic perfectionist. Detail is everything, but it just makes your life more difficult in the long run. :( Gary

I can relate to that, although, even though it may make life harder, at least you KNOW you did it right... ... Until you look at it again... :?

Attention to detail is good, as long as you can recognize the point of diminishing returns. Buffing through to primer doesn't fix the scratch!

Shopping at walmart costs you a LOT more than you think.

Tell me about it! I went to Wal-Mart the other day because I needed 27" tubes until I saw the price. $4.22 each. I thought to myself, "this is supposed to be Wal-Mart?" :? A couple days later I went to the scrap yard and got three bikes for five bucks. 27" tubes included, no leaks. The rest of the stuff I'm going to flip! :D
