Just picked this one up a little bit ago. Paid $40 for it. It wasn't till I got home that I found some play in the rear wheel. I'm new to working on these so don't be too hard on me. Is it normal for the rear hub to have some play in it? The bolts holding the rear wheel are tightened down, but the wheel is moving side to side. He said the wheel was replaced, but maybe they didn't do something right?

Sounds like the nuts holding the guts are not adjusted properly.

Below is from here http://www.troubleshooters.com/bicycles ... erhaul.htm

# Screw on the cone's locknut, hand tightening it onto the cone.
# Place a cone wrench on the cone, and an adjustable wrench on the locknut, and tighten the two against each other.
# Test for play. There should be just the tiniest amount of play, like maybe a half a millimeter at axle's end. As with all cup and cone bearing arrangements, one walks a tightrope between tightening it to binding and loosening it so there's too much play to true the wheel.

We just raffled off that same bike last month at the Midwest Bicycle Fest. Yours is the only other one I've seen.

Dude the rear wheel is a very easy fix.But make sure to tighten very soon or you will have to replace the bearing caps or worse the whole rear hub. Will only take about 5 minutes to do everything.
