Picked up this bike locally today. Unsure as to what it was born as. One mounting hole for missing head badge. A unique to me seat stay connector. A few Schwinn parts have been added, grips, pedals, speedometer, front wheel and tire, generator light set. Chain guard appears to be after market as tab on bottom bracket isn't used for mounting. Rear wheel has Bendix SS coaster hub. It has a Messinger saddle..
Any ideas as to what its origin was are welcomed.

Looks like an Evans dropout.
I tend to agree, thanks.
I have another '57 Evans Colson but the upper stays form a "V" connection to the seat post tube. This new one has a formed plate at the seat post connection which I haven't seen before.

In surfing the web I ran across this photo of a 54-55 Evans Colson Commander which appears to have the same rear stay connection at seat post as the beater I picked up.

Just gambled on a tank for the new beater bike. Avoided getting sniped in the last 5 seconds by a few dollars. Hopefully it fits, otherwise I'll have a cool Evans Colson Commander tank for sale.

If the tank doesn't fit,I would be interested in buying it from you. I have been looking for one for a while. Please let me know, Thanks!

The tank package arrived today and was on the porch as we got home from my hernia surgery session. I had to have my wife bring in the box. It will be put on hold for a while. I basically can't lift anything for a couple of weeks.
Might need her to open it up and hold it up to the bike for a test fit, which increases the hope for a match.

Test fit of tank. Looks like it might have come off a 24" frame. It is a bit short, but the other geometry looks pretty good.

Hmm...do you have a measurment on the tank? I can compare it to a few of my Evans frames( i have a 24").

The top curve of the tank measures 20".

Someone must have an extra headbadge.
