Last night I was in town and drove past four bikes nicely parked at the corner of a yard where the alley meets the street. One bike catches my eye so I go around the block to come back for another look. There were three 10-speeds and this old Hawthorne. So I'm wondering if they're for sale. They can't be getting thrown out parked all nice and neat like this, can they? I head up to the door and a lady meets me there. I ask if the bikes are for sale. She says "For sale? Just take whatever you want. We just want them out of here." Cool.
Now 99% of the time I'm driving my Suburban, but last night I just happened to be driving the Wrangler with my two little girls in the back seat. On top of that I've got one lone bungie cord in there and no bike rack. Luckily, my wife had my Suburban and it was only about a mile away. I hung that bike off the spare tire with the one bungie and slowly drove back to my truck to throw the Hawthorne safely in the back.
Here she is. Can anyone tell me who manufactured this bike? I've never owned a Hawthorne. Not sure if I'll keep it and fix it for my wife to ride or end up selling it.
