I’ve been flat out at work and haven’t done much since my last post although I did manage to find a much beefier looking cro-moly fork off an old Giant Rincon mtb I picked up for $20. The steerer has the correct 22.2mm ID and I only had to shorten it about 1/4”.

I did a “pre test” of my bike’s off-road ability and it had ape hangers, I thought I was going to die going downhill, and uphill I just didn’t have the “pulling” leverage.

That fork actually looks pretty good on there. A Mafac cantilever brake would look great on there. If you run some truss rods with it that would be pretty sweet!

Haha, I’m pretty sure I’m the one that broke the head tube on that first small berm jump. In the video you can hear a “crack” but in real life it was as loud as a .22 being fired.

I’ve settled on the Electra bar. I’m undecided on the stem however and may swap it for a more traditional one.

I have that setup on my Nishiki. The levers are good, the calipers are... present. I dream of stumbling across old deore brakes

This bike has the Chang Star levers, but with Shimano Exage Cantilever/U-Brake combo and is dialed-in properly.

I’ll take you on down Crested Butte.

I'm not sure what that means. Is it a reference cantilever brakes not being proper for riding in Crested Butte?
