I want to add gears to my Worksman INB. However, I want to keep my rear drum brake. Here is a list of my current assumptions:
1. Without frame modifications, I can't add a 5 speed sprocket since the rear drop outs are too narrow. That leaves me with this question; do I really want to get into that?
2. I can add a derailleur to the front sprocket but then I loose the one piece crank. That leaves me with this question; is there a two or three speed one piece crank out there somewhere?
3. Purchase a Sturmey Archer three speed (X-RD3 or XL-RD3) or five speed (X-RD5 or XL-RD5) hub with drum brakes. That leaves me with the following question; can the hub's spoke holes be drilled out to accept the Worksman heavy gauge spokes? The SA hubs have a spoke compatibility of 13g or 14g whereas the Worksman rims have an 11g spoke.
4. That at my weight (260 lbs), I cannot ride on rims with 13g or 14g spokes.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
