I believe that's a Rollfast.

Just snagged this ladies Columbia with a Springer fork. I was able to get the stem out without any trouble, but the headset stuff is giving me fits. It's soaking in the sun with PB Blaster right now. Hopefully it'll loosen up, and I'm even more hopeful that my wide front wheel will fit in there🤞🤞

The green doesn't match, but at least it is greenView attachment 200962View attachment 200961
If I can't get the headset loose, I'll just cut it off and weld a new steering tube in place. IF I can get it loose, and IF my wheel fits, AND IF the steer tube is too long, I'll just make a spacer to take up the slack.

That's a really cool springer collection, thanks for humoring me. I get excited about things sometimes. Someday, I dream of finding one of these...

It's a different kind of spring, but the idea is basically the same as your design

No, I have no need for it. It's kinda cool, in a retro way. Was thinking of posting it on the Rat Rod Bikes FB page for the price of packing and shipping

Hopefully someone takes on the task! Would be a shame to discard it!

Well, I didn't want to, but still ended up throwing the Thickslicks on it. They solved all the fender rubbing issues and it just makes the bike look leaner and ready to fight.

I also got the Springer fork mounted. Had to do some reverse engineering to get the women's fork mounted on my frame without modifications. I'll clean it up this weekend

As a bonus, I scored some Schwinn heavyweight fenders which amazingly clear the fat rear wheel

All that's left now is to paint the tank to match the patina and the greens, upholster the seat in green leather, and finalize the rear fender mount

Really nice looking build. Glad to hear your wrists healed after your steerer tube failure. I run that close to the rear forks on a couple of my road bikes. Just never break a spoke and have the rim start wobbling and you'll be OK. Your frame extension is sweet. A long wheelbase bike with rider seat in or near the middle of the wheelbase is an easy riding bicycle. I think the main reason for long rear stays was a more comfortable riding bicycle. Short rear stays beat the rider through the seat. Keep up the good work.

Stability vs manoeuvrability too. Short stays make for quick response and power delivery

Got the rear fender mounted. It was a pretty simple ordeal, as I just mounted the adapter tab to the axle nuts.

That heavyweight Schwinn fender is just a dream to work with, compared to most of the other Chineseium paper thin fenders I have.

Started accelerating the patina, and trying to remove that Leprechaun green covering the darker green. I don't have any beer to pour on the bare metal tonight, so that will have to wait for the weekend
Then I somehow managed to snap the gooseneck quill on the original handlebars, so in a fit of rage I threw them. Then I robbed the apes that were on the Monark and slapped them on this pile. Now I just have to paint the tank green to match and I'll call this one done

I love sooooo much about this build! It's coming together now!
The seat came out great, but it would have been cool if you had some clear vinyl over that padding. :D :D
