I stopped at a local thrift store a couple of weeks ago after passing by it for months. I had never stopped because I never saw any bikes on display. Turns out he had some hidden. I bought a pair of AMF 3 speed bikes for $20 . They cleaned up and rode good.He had a Schwinn 3 speed with coaster brakes. I can't remember the model name on it. I remember noticing that it had new tires on it. I'm going back to probably buy it today but I'm thinking it will not have the right tires on it. I bet somebody has put WalMart tires on it. Would 70's Schwinn 3 speed rims be stamped with id nimbers? What happens if the tires are not the special Schwinn size? Will the tires not stay on the rims? :?: Thanks

They should be stamped S-5, S-6, or S-7 depending on what model & year. If it's an S-7, you won't be able to get a regular tire all the way on. Not sure on the others, but reg. tires definitely won't work. But, aftermarket replacement tires are available, check ebay. ~Adam
