Good Start?

Hey guys an gals!

Ive been looking for a Side project away from my 64' Chevy c10 shop truck and ive been wanting a custom bike to tote to the shops and meets as well as give me a Secondary hobby. So my question for ya'll is, What would yall Recommend as a good starter bike? I want something vintage like my ol' truck . I can Fabricate parts if need be im good with a welder so no worrys there. I'd just like some Opinions on a good bike to start with.

I have a bike...Its a Hyper 26" mountain bike...it's been a fun ride but im looking for something i can cruise.

If I were in your shoes, I'd look for a 26" men's frame from '64 with rough paint, and then I'd paint it to match my c10 and hang whatever I wanted from it. That being said, you can't go far wrong with any of the various cruisers from '64, although Schwinns will likely be the most numerous.

Look around the "Builds" and "Gallery" sections here. I bet you will find about 10 bikes you want to build for yourself. Don't forget the new Bike Wall section.

Love the truck.. just an honest truck, not all fancied up with modern junk. I always liked the 64's design, much better than the earlier model of the same truck with the wraparound glass.

Had one of those just like that years ago, only it was 3/4 ton with a granny gear top loader in the floor.

Haha Thanks guys! I call her Christine shes an All original 64' Chevy Custom 10 Big back window, V8,Automatic, A/c truck ...A/c still works like a charm! haha shes come a long way since i bought her in December. One a Good note I Found a Bike! it's currently 74.4 miles away in my hometown of Mingus,Texas at my Grandparents place. Not sure the brand i do know its an old Newspaper boy cruiser...Judging by the saddle baskets and the handlebar basket. My guess it was that is haha. Ill have pictures as soon as i can !
