Once its gone, you miss it, right?
3 years ago, i decided that i needed to get back on the bike after years of not wanting to re-live the compound fracture of my right forearm. oh well..
i bought a cheap chinese cruiser and realized that it was just not for me, i sold it and bought my first vintage bike..
it came off edwars air force base, from what ive been told, it was a 1958 or 59 schwinn star-light.. correct me if im wrong, but this aint no typhoon..
i really loved working on it, riding it to an evening class, taking it to the bar, cruising around, it was a daily rider.
it went through several changes, the latest, i never photographed, but it had a DANGER DANGER repop monark fork DANGER DANGER, flipped bars and a set back seat post with that leather seat.
a few days ago i was talking to a friend and neighborhood kid. the conversation shifted to the bikes, so i thought it might be time to let it go. today the deal was finished, parts were removed, parts were added and we settled on a price both of us could agree on.
the rational side of me was glad to have the extra space in the garage, but the other side of me was sad to see it go.. we did some mixing and matching, hopefully he will make it respectable again..
bye schwinn!
the two-timin' hussie that took her place (as late 50s bikes, 30s balloon bikes and 80s roadbikes still on lock)
