Hey Guys,
If you saw it on eBay I'm the proud winner. Picked it up in Jersey tonight. The owner was happy a bike person wanted it as he didn't want to have to put it out on the curb for garbage. Looks better than I thought even under my driveway light. Cool handle bars and grips.
One quick question. I know this isn't the how to forum but it free wheels one whole revolution before the tension starts and the chain "pedals". Does anybody have a thought on this? It might be weeks before I can tear into it. Just wondering. I'm really excited about this one. It's my first real rat.
Jeff
PS- He gave me the trike too! LOL

The bike looks good, paint looks good as does the white on the wheels.

Does the chain turn with the cranks? If so, the cranks are probably not the problem. If the cranks turn, but the sprocket stays still, check the tab on the cranks that goes into the sprocket, it may be gone, or the sprocket loosened up and it's not in place. If the chain turns fine, then the rear hub is loose or worn out. Does the rear wheel have a lot of play in it? If so, tighten the cones but keep enough play to roll freely and see if that helps. If not, it may be worn out.

try to shoot a little penetrating lube into the rear hub, sometimes that old grease can harden up and cause all kinds of different symptoms. A few squirts and some movement might fix it. works for me about 80% of the time.
