A buddy called me Friday while he was out hitting the garage sales. He tells me he found an old kids bike with "one of those long seats, tall handle bars, and a spring thing on the front and it is in good shape". I ask them what they are asking and he says $15.

I ask him to buy it for me thinking I have a new Stingray for the fleet. He calls me later in the afternoon to tell me he aired the tires up and was riding it around the neighborhood. He also found where it said Bratz. :( :( :(

Now my mental picture of my new bike Happy Stingray to rusty Bratz, but for $15 I am still pleased. He brings it to work tonight and I was surprised to find it lacking the typical rust I have seen on every other Bratz bike. It looks like the bike hadn't seen a night left in the yard. The seat is a worn and shows signs that the bike was ridden but well cared for. I spent the night riding it around the airplane factory after wiping the dust off.

I will post some pics tomorrow. I have some plans for this bike that might be the beginning of a great partnership with a local business owner.

I struck a deal with my powder coater today. He is going to use the bike as a display bike in his shop after he works his magic on it. I am going to take care of the build part of it. He gets several people wheeling old bikes in to restore and he is going to send them to me in return. I will also be taking the bike to local events to help get his name out. I am hoping to build a nice partnership out of the deal and maybe get better pricing on my own powder work. ;)
