My friend Nick had a 1971 Western Flyer "The Wild One" 24x20 he bought at a bike show. he brought it to me a few weeks ago and asked if i could do something with it before the bike show in February. So we decided to build it and spend as little as possible. i stripped it down and sprayed it with some hobby paint - Lime Ice Green.

I painted the rear rim to match the frame with the spokes and hub still in it. then i removed the spokes and hub and cleaned them up and relaced everything.

The front wheel was fairly new so i removed the hub and spokes before i painted it and waited for it to dry and put everything back together.

He had a 24" rat trap fork he bought from me and he decided to use it on this build.

instead of using the original 24x1.75 rear slick we went with a felt thick brick 24x3.

i found that clearance was an issue but thankfully there is a lot of extra metal on the rear dropouts on this thing so i cut out another 1/2" so the big rear tire would have enough clearance in the frame.

check out that clearance from the ground to the bottom bracket!!

since we went the economy route on this one i didn't want to rechrome anything so i just sprayed the entire fork in green becuase i didn't want to take it apart. (these forks are a pain to put back together.)

then i put the rusty ram horns back on it.

put a newer stem on it and sprayed the bars with silver wheel paint.

taped off the chainguard and hit it with some gloss white to make it pop a little.

What gold seat are you talking about? This bike didn't have a seat when I got it. Its getting an ostrich leather saddle put on it. I do have a gold glitter banana seat tho and I'd be happy to sell it.

That looks amazing. you going to put the gold seat back on? That would look killer. If not, let me know. I'd like to eventually buy it...lol
