I was driving down the road today and saw an old barn with all kinds of equipment outside. Generally, people who have a place like this are bound to have a bike or two stashed somewhere. I am getting gutsy in my older years so I pull in and ask the owner if he has any old bikes to sell. Turns out, his brother was there who I have worked for in the past ( it's good to have an "in"). He takes me into this huge old barn with stuff piled everywhere. He shows me a BMX that's newer, a ten speed, and a mid weight woman's Huffy style. Nope, I'm not interested but he says, let's check the other side of the barn. He digs around way in the back and pulls out a nice JC Higgins Flightliner, painted with a brush and rusty. It's a girls but I grab it just because it is cool looking. I am cleaning it up and will post some before and after pics. It's cleaning up nice. But as we are walking out he lets me climb up to a bike in a box in the hay loft. He says it is brand new and still in the original box. We open it and I think the headbadge reads " Guarenty" or Guarentee. It has been in the box in this barn since 1965 at least! Pedals and saddle and bars are still in boxes inside the big box. Anyone have any guesses as to what it is? I told him I will be back. I didn't have a camera. He said at one point in the early 60's they had a truck load of these bikes they sold and this is the last one. I put air in the Higgins tonight and rode down the street. It too has been in the barn since 65 when they moved in there. Love this stuff. Brian
