Tomorrow’s the 1st. And Im going to start a build.
I sent this bike to paint in October as part of a trade for my remaining Schwinn bikes and parts and I finely got it back.
Here is a photo of my inspiration. Lots of Gulf bikes out there but gotta build one.
I was told there is 2 versions of this paint scheme, European and American.
After reviewing both cars, I chose the McLaren P1!
The European McLaren has dark blue pin striping between the colors and the American GT has black.

And the victim, a tired Felt Great Park bike rescued from the alleys of Huntington Beach Ca.

Well her we go!
After 3 long months I received the last payment on my Schwinn close out sale.
I traded multiple bikes, all my parts and everything Schwinn for cash and 1 custom paint job of my choice.
This is the most beautiful paint job I’ve ever seen. if you close your eyes you can’t feel the depth changes in the paint when you touch it.
Now I can sit back and Marinate for a bit.
I’m not happy about the logo placement but I’m working on it and we will see what happens.
Im going to use a triple tree front end with working suspension and I think I see a lot of black.

The front end is here and I want to get it on the bike just to look but first, paint.
I used this front end on my last Felt so I’m comfy with it. I’ll cut the fork tubes down as needed at the end of the build during final adjustments.

Good evening, I got some paint done and some parts installed!
The bottom bracket, kick stand, seat post, seat post clamp and triple tree. I’ll get this thing on the ground this weekend and scope out some wheels.

Here we go with the wheels.
im using the wheels off this Skull & Bones. This bike comes with a nice set of wide 26 inch wheels like on the felts and has my favorite, a Nexus 3 speed.
Now I got this bike cheep because of the electrolysis on the spoke nipples. Aluminum rims, metal alloy nipples and the dryer equals corrosion.
now I will disassemble and start rebuilding the wheels.

Good evening,
I finally finished the Gulf Livery project and I can’t be happier!
This is “Hannah” named after my one and only daughter and just as pretty!
Go back to the top and see where I started.
the only thing original to this bike is the frame and the chain guard. I used various parts of various bikes and built to my taste.
I used parts off Felt, Nirve and HBBC bicycles and miscellaneous after market parts.
I like this short squatty bobber style because well that pretty much describes my stature. This is easily changed to taste with taller bars different seat ect.
I didn’t put to many personal touches on on this but the wheels are sick!
2 inch wide, aluminum fatty rims with 2.5 Maxxis Hook Worms. I went with multi colored nipples, blue and orange.
If you look at the last photo, there’s not much room for error. I shimmed out the front sprocket to get the chain off the fender, tire and chain guard. Plenty of room!

Very cool! Love it. 1 question and 1 comment:

1-what wheels did you use and where did you get them?

2-I love the color coordination, but the yellow “Maxxis” totally ruined the flow of colors. Might I suggest an all black wheel or even black/red orange/light blue sharpie on the lettering.

The rims came off an HBBC cruiser local to this area but they come the old Felts as well. Scroll back up and you can see the white HBBC that gave its life.
as far as the Maxxis color flow, dammit, now you got me thinking 🤔 but that’s for the new owners preferenc.
