my fenders are kind of beat. i'm not really trying to do a rat rod jod on this one. i was planing on hammering the dents out as best as i can and then bondo what i cant take out. my fenders are very solid and strong and i think it should work. but then again i don't want to waste time and money.

shouldnt be a problem at all just try to get the majority of the lows out before mudding them....if its too thick it can fail

I hammered them out the best I could on mine and used some red putty. Ive ridden the bike a couple times and nothing has cracked yet.

Bondo! Now that would truly make the bike Rat!! In all seriousness... I have a great suggestion for hammering out dents and kinks in fenders. Get an old fashion door handle that is made out of BRASS. Another words... the actual knob is brass on each side. This enables you to grip one side of the handle and almost in a rolling fashion use the other knob to roll our the dents. I have done this on several of my ballooners bikes. Let me know how it works

I think as long as you dont twist them after the 'dough dries you should be OK.Keep them ridgidly mounted.

I experimented on a very beat up Schwinn Hollywood rear fender from the 60s. I use a trailer hitch ball as a dolly, and work the dents out as much as I can, then roughed up the low spots w/a grinder. Bondo, then plenty of primer! Haven't gotten around to painting it, but it survived the 350 mile move in the back of the U Haul in a tangle of other fenders and frames without any problems. I also have a plastic headed hammer that I use on chrome fenders. better than dents, anyway! ~Adam
