I've always liked bike baskets. I've never found one I liked enough to put on a bike until now.

I collect old bicycle photos and 9 times out of 10, bikes back in the day were equipped with aftermarket baskets. If you ride, they really are functional.

So I pulled this set out of the dirt on a pick the other day. I like how they curve with the wheel and how it has rubber spacers made into the bracket to protect the fender paint.

Anyways, I hooked them up and made wood inserts.

I have a set of those. Put em' on a bike to try a couple of years ago. Problem for me was my heels would hit the front edge of the basket...

I really like the arched top sides!

The luan is very distracting though. Although I do know from experience that the solid bottom does help. Maybe you could make them from a rubber welcome mat or automotive floor mats or something along those lines.:39:

Yeah, they're definitely a very "Wald"-like design, but those are fancier than any of the Walds I've seen from the 60s thru present day. Awesome accessory you found there!

Or you could just bag them. Grocery stores went through the environmental alternative offerings to " paper or plastic ". I now see lots of nice designer reusible cloth grocery bags . Some even have an insulated liner for bringing home the milk, and Oreo cookies.
