Head tube for 1 1/8 Fork stem?

Im Stretching and making mods on a Huffy Cranbroock. I have a set of front MTB suspension forks that I would like to use on the bike. The Fork stem has a 1 1/8" stem and the Cranbroock is 1".
I need to find a Head tube to fit the 1 1/8 Stem or to buy Material and bearing cups to match.
What size tubing is used for a 1 1/8 Stem?

Sometimes a 1 1/8" steerer will fit into a 1" headtube and clear the 1" bearing cups. If it does, I think you can use the 1" bearings and the other parts from a 1 1/8" headset to put it together. I'm sure someone here on RRB knows how to do it.

I've seen it done on older BMX bikes, for sure.
