I took out the fork on this girls ten speed. I apparently didn't pay close enough attention on the disassembly cause now I can't seem to get the thing back in the frame right! I thought it was lower bearing, upper bearing cupped screw on flat round bolt thing, nothched keeper washer and then the big chrome bolt. Maybe it's lower bearing, upper bearing, flat notched washer then the cupped flat round bolt then the big chrome bolt.

I'm so confused now I don't even recall what what the bearing races lay! Does the bearing exposed side go up in the upper bearing cup or does it go exposed bearing side down? And what about the lower bearing? Up? Down?

HelP!

on top of the fork crown is a bearing race, the lower bearing seats here with the 'cage' (also called retainer ring) side up, then put the fork steer tube into the frames head tube. on top the bearing goes 'cage' side down into the bearing cup, then the threaded bearing race, then the notched keeper washer, then the bolt. once you have the threaded bearing race adjusted, hold it still while installing the notched washer and large fastener bolt, hold that threaded bearing race with a large pipe wrench or something so that it doesnt move while ya tighten the large fastener bolt. make that large bolt snug, but do not crank it down and overtighten it. i would also suggest putting a bit of grease on the fork steer tube threads. hope that helps

Thanks...I suppose it helps to have the bottom bearing cup in place too? I misplaced the lower bearing cup and wasn't able to figure out why it was grabbing and not turning right and all wobbly.

Yeah, got he bearing cup in there and it's pretty fine now....jeez!
