This is always tricky.

I'd probably give the person a week tops.

You should be able to find out the guy's phone number through Ebay.

I'll normally start hounding a buyer on the 3rd day, and if that buyer hasn't responded by 7th day from closing, I'll open an "unpaid item" case. Under the latest Ebay policies, you can open a case after 4 days, and then the buyer has 4 days after that, to pay. Most of the time I receive payments within a couple days, but every now and then, I get one that stretches the limits.

It it turns out you never get paid, or hear back, I would recommend you not relist the item until the case has been closed.

As a professional buyer I would recommend adding the payment information you desire in your listing. I always assume 3 days but I had one seller start harrassing me on the 2nd day. Come to find out he had it in his listing that payment was supposed to be made within 24 hours - I just didn't read it. Communication helps alot.

I'm in the same situation. I invoiced the winner thru Paypal, and emailed him thru eBay. No response yet.

Is it required to open an "unpaid item" case, or can I just let a week pass, send a second email that tells him I'm invoking the "second chance" for the other bidder who did not win????

When I buy, I pay instantly. I feel that's normal. Most of my buyers had always paid very quickly, and I never could figure out why some buyers will use the "buy it now", and still choose to wait 2 days to pay. Frankly, as a seller, I find it annoying, especially since I make sure I ship within a day. If you can click on "buy it now", why can't you immediately click on "pay now"?

On the other side of the fence, don't you find it annoying when sellers take their sweet time getting your stuff shipped out?

Not recommended. As long as you and the original buyer still has a pending transaction, he can leave you negative feedback. It's best to clear the transaction, before selling to the next guy.

Rooski, OK, thanks.

Since I sold a BMX frame, I bet the buyer was a kid, won the auction, and now daddy won't cover the payment.... just guessing of course... he has 2 positive feedbacks. :D :D

For online payments, I initiate contact after the 3rd or 4th day. Deals off on day 7 unless the buyer has an amazing story. Double these times if payment is arriving by snail mail.

Given that, I am pretty flexible. Things happen. People botch the address. Occasionally package carries actually lose stuff! Crap breaks.
