I saw this today in Downtown Sacramento....
You would think SOMEONE would notice and say something to the poor sap riding around like this. Its like having toilet paper stuck to your shoe when you walk out of the restroom... haha!!

Isn't there some sort of instructions for the 17-yr old who puts these together? Or maybe huffy instruction manual was copied upside down..... :D

Hey, be careful now!

But seriously, I am 99% sure that bike came from Wal-Mart and it just sickens me that they actually sell stuff like that "ready to go". Can you imagine a brand new bike 40 years ago looking like that? Now days they're dinged up, loose seats, loose stems, and forks on backwards! :x ....Well, only at Wal-Mart.

I've seen this on 2 different Wal-Mart bikes out in public in the last month, makes me laugh every time I see it.

The best was the ad someone posted on the CL for a Wal-Mart cruiser that time with the forks like this and they made some comment about cycling is not for me.

I saw two Nirve Army bikes next to each other at Tour de Fat. One normal and one with backward fork. Hopefully one took notice of the other.

A friend of mine told me that Walmart receives their bikes pre-assembled with the stem bolt loose and the handle bars sideways twisted downwards. The wheels and fork facing backwards to save room in the box its shipped in. All that has to be done is to straighten it out and tighten the bolt. ...the only thing that is added is possibly the fenders, seat and pedals....that is what I was told  I hope this is not some sort of hip trend.
...I bet it would steer great if it was a fixie doing a backward pedaling trick

You're all wrong. He was going mach schnell when he got a little speed wobble. Being a certified speed specialist he pushed past the wobbles before completely loosing it and saying a quick hello to the curb. It's more a badge of honor than a spot of shame.

I was at Kmart the other day and there was this cool looking Schwinn bike up on the rack and the head badge was mounted upsidedown, all i could think of was, good thing quality control is on the job

Lol, I have had so many people think my spray bombed Huffy Santa Fe is a Schwinn that I'm thinking of putting an upside down Schwinn head-badge on it just for a gag. Then flip the bars for good measure.

Seems Wal-mart can put forks on backward, upside down head badge, loose parts galore,
But it takes some really cool cats to flip the bars! 8)

I work at a university and see hundreds of sparkling new bikes a year many of them poorly assembled . The sound of pedals mangling chain guards and fenders rubbing tires ring in the air each fall. Reversed forks and stems ,and handlebars pointing at the moon are common. Its awsome! But really, several of us "maintenance guys"stop the kids who will take the time ,and flip forks ,raise seats and adjust things and make their bikes safe. Its allways cool when one of those kids shows up at the shop with an old bike that they want to fix up ,they are the next generation of enthusiasts. 8)
