Just interested in playing some what-if with the brain trust around here. Imagine there's a big classic bike show, contest, and swap this weekend in your area (there's one here in St. Louis Queeny Park Sunday, Big Show). I have a few bikes to sell, I have an idea what I'll price most of them at but I just picked this one up today and I really don't know what I'd price it at or if other folks would be attracted to it. So here it is, 1966 Schwinn Tiger that somebody ratted out a long time ago, they probably started ripping parts off it back when the Stingrays got popular.
Imagine it all polished up, the wheels nice and shiny with maybe some old original Schwinn Typhoon balloon tires on it for that fat-tire effect.

So, if you were selling it, how much would you ask?
And if you were interested in it, how much would you pay?

Well, I gave more than I would normally give for it from CL, but ONLY because CL's been completely messed up this week (American Pickers effect???) and I had no bikes coming in so I felt like I needed to get something coming in the door. I know I can part it out and probably double my money on Ebay but I really DON"T like parting bikes, I like making complete bikes.

If I gave it a good cleaning/polishing but no more effort or parts than that I'd be very happy to part with it for $90.

I would ask $330.00

I would pay $150.00 Potentially. Maybe just $100.00. It's a cool bike. Not everyone puts value in fenders and chain guards. To me, that stuff is just in the way. I would be trying to get that seat.

The Bandit is a $2,500 bike because we all know what it took and the effort that went into it.

You tell that to someone off the street and they would have a coronary.

Fenders and chain guards are in most cases just throw away packaging.

I'm glad you agree. If Gaskill heard I didn't like chain guards, he would include one on every build he did for the next 3 years.

this can be a tough question, I too would ask $250 and take $200..the bike looks in real nice shape.

it also depends on your demograph...here in Vancouver we have a ton of volvo drivin, white picket fence, seal kissin, granola eating people who love there old school rides. With this in mind the older Schwinn, Hiawatha, etc etc... type bikes tend to ask and go for top dollar.....and I mean top dollar! There are few like yours now on our local CL asking $500....

the other is the season....around here the summers are great so the need for a cool bikes is up with that better you can ask for a higher price...but now that the rain and wind is coming back... nobody is buying :(

what it comes down to is ask what you can get! feel out the market, you do not need to sell it right?

-good luck with the sale
