How the heck do you loosen this bolt? On in one position its blocked by derailleur then if you shift the derailleur out its blocked by the sprocket.

Its on this GT outpost trail

Re: How the heck?????

When that bolt loosens up you just throw the bike away.

Re: How the heck?????

When you shift to the outer ring, does the angle of that bolt change? It should be adjustable.

Re: How the heck?????

To adjust the cable on the front derailleur move the shifter to the low gear position, or where the cable is loose. Allow the derailleur to drop all the way down, so that the chain is on the smallest sprocket. Loosen the hold down bolt now......... Pull cable tight(snug) and retighten the hold down bolt.

If you are just looking to remove it from the bike cut the cable!

Yeah when you shift it to the outer ring its pointed down to the sprocket.

loosen the clamp bolt (holds the deraleur to the frame) so you can twist the deraleur for clearance...
No clamp it hangs off a bracket that comes off the BB

just use Pliers instead of a Allen key
probably what I will end up doing

I swear this thing is haunted, last night I had it shifting thru all three front gears fine so I put it up for the night then today I went for a shake down ride before I called the guy thats buying it. and the front derailleur is now not wanting to shift more then a little either way of center.

if you changed the cables , sometime the metal nipple over the cable cover does not go all the way in and when under load it goes in place , it happened to me last day with brakes , just check the cable tension again ..
or the cable was not correctly secured in the derailleur..
