I have a 26" wheel set with Mattatuck hubs. The wheels are bent in a few spots  Is it worth keeping these wheels because of the hubs :?: Can the wheels be fixed :?:

Unlace the wheel. Keep the hubs and the spokes (if they are still good). Then you can unlace a mountain bike wheel and make your own 26" coaster. Lacing them up isn't hard.

like udall said it's not hard to relace a wheel ,or if the spokes are still good you can always use the old trick of tape'n the spokes together were they cross or i have used zip ties ,then you can remove the hub and spokes all together and place right into a different hoop !;works great with alittle less frustration !

I brought the wheels to my lbs and the guy said all I need to do is put the wheels on a metal corner of something and take a hammer and bang it until it gets into it's shape  He said the front probably won't fix  I will try it tonight or tommorrow :| If it doesn't work for the front anyone have a spare :?: A little rust is fine

Many rims can be saved with the proper application of brute force. Don't really now how bad yours is it is hard to comment. Single wall rims are weaker but easier to straighten.

I don't know how bent your rim is,but I ran when I thought of lacing my hub into a new wheel. I tried the tape'n the spokes method for the first time over the holidays with great results. I was proud of myself after pulling this off. I now don't fear the thought of lacing hubs, spokes and rims.

can't take credit for inventing it ,but it works for me ! that's just my lazy way  when you got to do what you got to do,then do it !

For lace-overs just clamp the hub axle in your trusty Wilton vise with the spokes already loose (rim horizontal), lay the new rim on top with the valve holes aligned, then move the spokes and nipples over to the new rim one at a time. Real easy.

THEY ARE FIXED  My Dad brought them to his friends house and he used a hammer on an I Beam :D :D :D He took out the "S" shape in the front rim and it looks brand new  I'm glad I don't have to buy a new set
