I am late to the party but I am in with this Coast to Coast Rail Cougar 5. The last build off I entered I was unable to finish within the time frame but this time I have a pretty clear vision and most of what I will need on hand.

Glad to see you back in it, George! This will be one 'cool cat' when you get done working your magic!

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across this piece of junk with one notable part on it (not the handmade custom rack)...

A little rough but I think it will work nicely on the Coug.

Seat reminds me of fruitstripe gum
Its usually referred to as a Lifesaver seat, but Fruitstripe works too.
Looks like a nice crankset as well, since they’re both Huffys. I’d say the chainguard as well, but it’s probably too long

I've got plans for the fork off this one.

If you need an Excel brake set (minus the levers) let me know. I've got several sets to restore. I just need to get to them. Also I can restore the correct Shimano Lark that Rails used. Again... I just need to get to it, if you're interested.

I have some brake set-ups but I might have to take you up on that Lark, I can't seem to ever come across them.

I slapped on some bright purple/magenta paint I had laying around. Went on awful bright but after a second purple coat and a really thinned-out coat of brown, it started to take on the right tone for a base. Now to "rust" it.
