I went to the Springfield Ohio antique extravaganza today. There were only a few bikes there, so I was about to give up. We went to get lunch and the guy grilling the pork chops had this parked next to him. He said he bought it new in 1974 and he figured he would bring it along to get rid of it today. It's nothing too grand. Just a 3 speed Sears made in Austria. Seems to be a decent bike though. The best part is it has handlebars and grips from a 1967 Schwinn stingray (possibly Fastback) with the turned down ends.

Nice bike, I have the matching ladies bike for that but mine has the original bars. I have a question on your hub.

I heard that the gears in this hub were made by Sturmey-Archer and the hub body was made by others. This came along with idea that the innards could be swapped out without a hitch. Do you or anyone know this for a fact or is this a myth or is it a Sachs 3-speed? My hub has lost second gear and I'd like to get it back. My ladies is in good shape and I'd like to keep it as an original bike.
Any ideas?

Graylock: I don't know the manufacturer for sure, but in the photo there's "...in Austria" stamped on the hub, so my guess would be that it's a Sachs.

These are solid bikes made by Puch. A few years later sears moved to Murray built bikes which aren't nearly as nice. I love mine.
