i bought another tandem

I've got 8 frames up in the rafters with their wheels stacked up with my other parts. Instead of 21 bikes, it looks like 13 in there.

I can't make out the tubing in the pic. Is it a cantilever or double top tube? Is it is it home made?
Looks cool whatever it is.

that bottom tube just looks a little outta place. its a larger diameter and seems to have reacted with age a little differently than the rest of the bike.
perhaps a repair?

the larger diameter tube between the cranks is typical of most tandems ive seen. dont think its a repair myself but could be. tandems were the usually the only bikes in a line up that would have had a tube that large, probably outsourced materials from a different supplier so it doesnt surprise me it would "age" a little different than the rest of the bike. totally my opinon pulled out of my rear though :wink:

Maybe someone tried to clean up the frame and started with the bottom tube. That looks like some kind of paint remover or something was used.

The Schwinn tandem I built for the build off has a larger bottom tube also.

Maybe that occurred in transit? Or not. In any case, you should be able to pound it out.

might be able to get a small exhaust tubing expander in there and get it round again.
