I had just purchased another bike on Thurdsay. This was already pushing my self set limit when I drove past a yardsale that had these two old bikes there. I told myself I better go at least ask what the guy wanted for them. I wanted to see them up close and that would satisfy my curiosity, Then I was going to walk away. He told me to make him an offer. I offered $15. He was asking $35 for everything else. I figured he wouln't bother bartering at that price. He wanted $35 each. I asked what his name was so I could come by later to see if they had been sold. The bartering started and I looked them over a little closer and found the blue bike had a 2 speed kick back hub. I thought to myself that the hub alone is probably worth $40. I offered $20 for both bikes and said I couldn't go higher. I had planned to just part them out or do a little work and sell them. I got them home and put the blue bike together and my wife says "Those look kind-of like my bike, let's keep them for the kids."
The chainguards are incorrect on both bikes, but I like them.
Can anyone help with a year on these? The 24" red/pink bike has a headbadge that says schwinn spitfire it had a new departure rear hub, script grips, and a bolt on kick stand.
