i didnt paint anything or clean anything or take the rust off of anything! i did this in in august. rick rebuilt the rear coaster brake hub for me. its a 26" schwinn frame. the only mod i made to the frame was to cut the seat tube down to flush w/ the top tube. the front fork is a 24" rattle trap, and it's got 24" wheels so it sits pretty low. because of how low it sits i kept the larger chainring but i had to put shorter cranks on it, it's kinda hard to peddle up hill ! i put bent seat tubes on just about everything i build, this was no exeption. messenger sprung seat + comfy! i like the drag bar look too. that bag thats ziptied to the down tube usually goes just under the seat on the seat tube but i thought it looked more cool on bottom. the rubber peice thats hooked to the fork tubes and frame have a dual purpose; they are my steering dampener for high speed racing (a joke of course) and they hold the front end still when my hands arent on the bars if im sitting still or the bike is parked. got lots more goodies to hang on it too ! ive had fun peddling it around the neighborhood, ppl always stop and ask about it.
