OK, so i told myself the other day that i need to quit buying bikes for awhile. bouncing my head off of bike pedals everytime i walk into my storage shed from bikes haning is getting old. so what happens? i get a call today from a guy wanting to sell a vintage 70's schwinn ten speed that has been converted to a single speed with new tubes, tires,a fresh service, new cables and he wants 50bucks for it!!! as if it weren't bad enough being a good buy, i have been wanting a single speed on this type of frame/wheel combo for commuting around town. sooo, i guess i need to start wearing a helmet when i go in my storage shed!!! :D anyone else share my problem? stupid question!

it's not really a problem until the city/county/township/state sends you a letter for blight.
i've got that letter

I get the free ones all the time and "it's getting out of hand" she has said. All I need to do is make sure she can get her car in the garage and a clean path to get inside. The trick is to make sure any new finds are not in eye shot. This said she and I went to the Munson Swap this year and I brought another bike home, wasn't free either. Good women are hard to find and at my age there's no time to train new ones. :| . All my good finds swing from the trusses of my garage on the second floor.

sigh,

i guess the one good thing to having too many is that when you do get a new one, the wife can't really tell if it is different or not! :D or you can use my favorite saying "no honey, i have had that one for awhile now, remember"?

I also have recently said I won't pick up any more for a while... but I am on my way to load up two more this saturday. D'oh!

I went yardselling this past weekend and told myself that I was only looking for an old MTB with alloy wheels for a parts bike. I didn't "need" another whole bike. I passed up at least 10 bikes , but I bought four . I can't help it; I can't pass up a good deal. At least I have one sold already , but I plan on keeping the other 3 . LOL I think that makes around 25 whole bikes . FatTires

a problem or an addiction, call it what you will. i have put the word out that if any bikes are gonna be thrown out, to send them my way. just now the flow of bikes my way has began to pick up. at least i have two different houses to store everything, but the fact i have two places may be an indication of my addiction. 17 give, take one or two for the time being is managable for now.

I sitting on about 50 bike again now, sold around 175 to 200 last year and just picked up two more yesterday. When my wife came home last night she just looked at and walked in the house, I said but dear it's for you. One of the bike is a girls Dyno glide deluxe. She came back outside and rode it down around the corner and back, now is where I have to say I"VE NEVER SEEN HER RIDE A BIKE MORE 10' in 25 years of marriage. There is hope for my wife yet. She even said I need a bigger place to keep me JUNK. Oh she liked the bike she want me to it cleaned for her. YES

P.S. The other bike is a 1962 or 63 Western flyer one owner repaited went this guy was about 12.

Maybe you guys should take a closer look at my signature line

Does that mean we qualify for Federal assistance ? Since we have a problem , maybe it's a disability and we should be getting a monthly check . Sure would help offset some of the expenses . LOL  FatTires

I don't know if any of y'all are familiar with author Roger Welsch, and his books of adventures with old tractors. He has a set of "rules for collecting old iron" which apply to any wheeled collectible! I don't remember 'em all, but one was 'buy one you don't want, then sell it right away! Then reference all future finds to "that one I sold...." '. ~Adam

and i just got another one today!

does it ever feel "weird" having so many? i have 3 cruisers tucked neatly in the corner of the living room, my wife's mtn bike against my defunked computer table in the kitchen, two my oldies rats in the game room, or as i call my "rat room", (wife don't mind) and my huffy "menacing vibrations" and today's find (claridge 10speed) behind the house. on top of that, im expecting to recieve another schwinn tourer and two more bmxs next month. part of me says, "this many bikes feels like too much.", and the other part of me says i can fit two more over there and about 4 more out back.

Well you can always say, could be worse" look how many ________ has"

The first bike I restored was for my wife. She never rides it, but she leaves me alone! I think it helped. B607
