well..let's say I found a Pile of Cool 24 inch Wheel Chair Wheels at
the Recycle Depot....
They are still in Plastic.

If anyone has any info on these ( Mark..Kenny )
can I cut The Rubber away and put a 24 inch Rubber tire on em??
will it seat???

Do I need Bearings..or is that little tube inside that's kinda
moving around a bearing seat??

either way ..I'll find something to put em on.

Looks like it's got a regular skateboard bearing in there, Kev.
With a spacer in between (thats the little tube inside).
I think you'll be able to drill a valve-hole. Only thing is: will a tire stay on it?

Hey Kev, if the rim has a valve stem hole, you might find a tire that would fit. Most wheel Chair rims are a weird size though.
I did'nt see a stem hole in the pics?

Sealed bearings are nice to have, those are the ones I used on my Amputee bike.

If you take a tire off, the rim makes for a great tube bender You bend it (tube) over the channel and it wont kink the tubing!!!!

I just used one yesterday for a few bends on the Super Cruiser!!

I just cut a piece of the Hard Rubber off..
No bead seat so A Tire won't work..
and I put it up against my 24 inch wheeled BMX and the 24
inch Wheel chair wheel is bigger..so laminating a 24 inch
Rim / Ring onto this( that would be fun to true up :x )
won't work..

I think it would be a pretty HARD RIDE if I ran those Hard Rubbers..
even on a Trailer...

so, I guess I have 10 really cool Pipe Benders :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Or I can build a Big Wheeled Soap Box Racer for my Son..

there are some new wheelchairs at work with 24" air filled tires on Sun rims, very sweet, but they are the metal, spoked rims. They're for larger patients. I think the scooter idea is pretty cool!!! I saw a pic of an old ladies ballooner that a guy cut up and made a real cool scooter from....ya might start the next big craze!!! call 'em middleaged-mutant-ninja-scooters or somethin goofy and you'll sell a million!! :mrgreen:

Maybe not if you have enough suspension...
I,d fit one of these on my suspension fork with a big bolt and some skateboard/inline spacers.

That is definitely a 608zbearing as used in skateboards inlines etc.
Maybe you could make a skateboardbike out of these if you fit the wheel if possible on a skateboardtruck,and use your weight to steer.

going off of what rick said, if the tire ideas dont go through or you dont want to spend the money, maybe 4 or 5 members could buy a pair of them off of you and we can have a lowrider buildoff...?
