I need Skip Tooth Education.

Guys, I have a 1950 Schwinn with what I see is a Skip Tooth Gear and Chain on it. From what I see here. A Skip tooth gear takes a special chain and can only be used with that special chain. if I have a problem with it. I am out of luck.
Am I right? Do other cranks fit into same frame with a normal gear?

you can use the same crank and just replace with a non skip tooth chain ring but then you have to do that to the back sprocket as well...not so fun when all you have to do is buy a skip tooth chain! i have one i can sell as do many people on this forum...keep it original...quick non skiptooth solution...change chain ring and rear sprocket or wheel set...if you have them laying around...need a chain?

i think i might have miss understood what you were saying now that i read again...you have the complete set up and you want to know if it breaks if your s.o.l? if thats your question then no your not in trouble at all! let me know witch responce was correct! sorry i got confused!

Everything works fine now. But it is 62 years old. I was just wondering what happens if I have a problem later
