hope it's ok i'm just copying myself from another forum.

my cruiser would be so much nicer.

i recently made it a 5 speed, and just got my brakes mostly worked out. it's close to perfect, but i need a better seat. something i can push back into to help take advantage of the gearing.

this is on ebay

but i'm not sure if i like the look of the separate back rest. i have a similar seat on another bike i may swap on and if it's real nice maybe i'll give up some style for performance.

i really like this harley seat

that ducktail like part looks perfect, but i haven't seen a bike seat like it (except some stingray type seats, but i don't want that)

anyone seen anything that might work or got ideas on it. thanks.

check out choppersus they make some bobber style seats that i think would look good on there

it's not how it looks, it's how it rides. working on something like the harley seat though. i'll post a pic later tonight or tomorrow.

got this seat at a thrift store this morning for $4

the gray one on the left. the one in front was the one i've had on it most of this spring and the one on the right i just stuck on today for a quick try.

it has some flaws, but i stuck it on the bike for a quick ride and i like it better already

i angled it back a little too much, but since i didn't know what i was doing i figured i'd err on having too much angle than maybe feeling like it was sticking me in my back from being angled too far forward. i figure if i get to padding and upholstery i can add padding to take up the angle. really riding it it isn't too bad anyway.

it would also look a little better trimed down maybe an inch or so, with maybe a better curvature acroos the top. i know i'm gonna try another seat tomorrow so i may make those two changes.

it works though. i had to tighten the seat clamp better 'cause i was pushing the seat out of position when i pedaled hard. once i got it tightened better i didn't have to hang on to the bars to try to accelerate. it's also more comfortable than i would have expected a springless bare metal seat to be. i wasn't on it long though, but i'm expecting more work on the comfort part will only make it better.

next i'm gonna look for a ragged seat with springs (or possibly sacrifice the springer seat in the first pic. kinda be a waste though) for some suspension, and try to pad and upholster it somehow.

little more work on the seat

i went ahead and put the spring part of the other seat on it. it's all bolt on so if i decide to put the other seat back together (not likely unless i find a ragged seat with a better springer) i can put it back.

here's the second seat i made for my chopper project

i ended up deciding not to shorten it much, but i did try to give it a little more curve a cross the top. i had some temp padding on the first one and noticed it makes the back section look a little shorter so i'm leaving them as is. this one will take more work since i can't adjust the seat angle. as is it feels like it's pitching me off the front, but this is a longer term project so i'll work on that as i go.
