1979 Schwinn Scrambler 36/36. All original

That Tempo has had some lower end components put on it by a previous owner.
For sure. The rear derailleur and brake levers were replaced at some point. Was a cool bike. Wish I had kept the front rack before I sold it.

Been trying to slow the buying lately, but decided to tag along to the LB swap yesterday. Didn’t need anything, but found some cool stuff.

Particularly stoked on the nickel prewar schwinn forks with the truss arms. Already installed them on a ‘37 straight bar I’ve been gathering bits for.

After a long hunt, I finally bagged a MCS Magna Cruise. Full 4130 chromo USA made. No way to really tell the date based on serial, but they were only made from about ‘79-‘82. From what I understand, less then 900 were made.
It’s a keeper, and will be built with what’s on hand while I search out the wing bars, proper fork and a 6 bolt MCS stem.

Been slowing (trying at least) on the fresh finds. Trying to sort out what’s filler and what’s killer.

That being said, a few found their way to me recently.

‘79 Spitfire, other then the grips, as built back in the day. Of the half dozen or so ‘79 spitfires I’ve had, this is the cleanest original.

Unfortunately, not having room for it, it moved on to a friend the next day, minus the S&S fork.

Earlier this week I got a message from a friend about a bike of his I’ve adored for years. I couldn’t say yes to the purchase fast enough.

It didn’t come with a seat, I added it for a test ride. But pretty stoked on this build as is.

Some interesting ones last week. I’ve befriended a local guy who’s been clearing out all his bike stuff. Hard part is, no cherry pickin, ya gotta take all he’s weeded out.

So, got a truck load. In it were some really interesting pieces.

Being told post war Japanese built-

And what I believe to be 30’s era Raleigh X frame-

There was an 80s mongoose MTB frame and a few wheelsets in there too.

I’m really tempted to build the x frame simply because when I was in Europe I saw a lot of interesting bikes that had sparked build ideas, and This frame would be an interesting candidate for a ratty single speed commuter. We’ll see.
