Local USPS has never (and refuses to) put our street (pretty much the whole town) on a mail route. Neighboring town USPS route ends @ our property line. BITD our neighbors and our mail sat on a shelf befind the counter @ the PO waiting for us to collect it (during business hours, of course).
A few years ago they remodeled the PO and added nice new PO boxes. Now we are assigned a PO box # and every year are given govt forms to fill out asking pretty please if we may be given a free PO box (which we do not want) for 1 year. Best part is for natl security we have to present 2 forms of ID - EVERY YEAR!
It's a tiny town (maybe 20 houses). They were studying closing the PO a couple years ago to save money - held a meeting the whole town attended and said close it!
The decision was to cut hours to 8 to 11 am.
