I am looking for help with how best to determine if a Monark Springer fork (http://www.monarkforks.com/monark/) can be installed on a 30s-40s aluminum frame Wards Hawthorne bike. The bike/frame I plan on purchasing (if the fork can be made to work w/it) will be the same/similar style as the following:

What is the best way to determine if the fork will fit the bike/frame?

I am also concerned about the availability of bearing/headset parts. Are new bearing/headset parts that will fit an old Wards Hawthorne like this even available? New or used, what are some good sources for these parts?

Also, I would like to install a modern 3-piece crankset (http://www.feltbicycles.com/USA/2014/Pa ... nkset.aspx). Does anyone know if an old aluminum frame Hawthorne bottom bracket would accept an American to Euro bottom bracket converter (e.g. TruVativ American-to-Euro Conversion kit)? i.e. is the bottom bracket on a Wards Hawthorne aluminum frame a ‘standard size’ American bottom bracket, or is it a ‘non-standard’/Hawthorne specific size?

I don't see why it wouldn't fit, I have one on a late 30's hawthorne. As for the headset, might try here or ebay, my buddy has one of these frames and he runs a tioga beartrap2 headset in it ( it's an old school bmx headset ) and yes, they are standard american bottom brackets! Hope this helps ya
